Pythagoras’ theorem was found on a Babylonian tablet created 1200 years before Pythagoras himself

The School of Pythagoras, based in present-day Southern Italy, popularized the theorem, although the scientist himself is not its author. Many discoveries made by the Pythagoreans were attributed to Pythagoras himself out of respect for the leader of his scientific school. This also explains the origin of the term “Pythagoras’ theorem”.
